Who is it for?
This course is for practicing electricians, engineers and designers who are working to the BS 7671 2008 (Amendment 3 2015) and need to update their knowledge to the latest requirements from the Institution of Engineering and Technology Wiring Regulations.
All new installations and modifications that have been designed and installed from the 1st January 2019 must conform to the new standard, and you will also need this qualification if you are registering or renewing your JIB/ECS card.
All electricians registered with Competent Persons Schemes will typically be expected to show they have updated to the 18th Edition.
What the course covers
All the awarding organisations have agreed that there will only be one course with an online exam at the end. This is a theory only course.
- Three day course which will cover the full IET Wiring Regulations book, giving overviews of each section and appendices.
For this course, you will be expected to be suitably electrically qualified eg: Electrician, Electrical Engineer or Electrical Designer.
All applicants must have a good level of written and spoken English and basic mathematic skills. Minimum age 18 and you will need a copy of BS 7671 2018 ISBN 978-1-78561-170-4
Please be aware the new ‘standards’ apprenticeship programme includes 18th Edition certification, depending on the date of commencing apprenticeship.
Examination and Assessment
The course is examined externally with an EAL online open book exam.
EAL certificate on successful completion which is recognised by the JIB/ECS and the preferred qualification of the NICEIC and ELECSA.
This course is taught and examined in English.
