Description
Who is it for?
This Level 3 course is designed for experienced, practicing, qualified electricians and electrical engineers; who need to be able to carry out Initial Verification and/or Periodic Inspection and Testing and Certification of electrical installations (Up to 1000 V ac and 1500 V dc) in Domestic/Commercial/Industrial environments, including Special Locations as defined in BS 7671.
This qualification meets the current published guidance from the IET on the Electrotechnical Assessment Scheme, for compliance with the various Competent Person Schemes.
What the course covers
This course is a combined Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection and Testing in one qualification. It is a mixture of theory and practical training covering the requirements of relevant Statutory Regulations, British Standards and Codes of Practice for Inspection and Testing such as;

Entry Requirments
It is essential that you are fully up to date with current BS 7671:2018 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations Amendment 1 2020. You will also need to hold a suitable industry recognised Electrical Installation or Maintenance qualification, as well as relevant experience in the industry.
Note: if you hold a Domestic Installer Qualification; please ensure you are conversant in and have relevant experience with, not only Domestic but Commercial and Industrial environments, including 3 Phase. As well as relevant training to meet the requirements of Regulation 16 of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, ” Competent Person “
All applicants must have a good level of written and spoken English and basic mathematical skills
This course is taught and assessed in English.
Examination & Assessment
The course is assessed via externally set theory and practical exams:
Theory Exam: Online open book exam which is a mix of standard multiple choice and advanced questions, you will require a printed copy of Guidance Note 3 for the exam (only exam permitted reference material)
Practical Exams: 1 Hour Inspection only Exam
2.5 Hour combined Inspection and Testing Exam
EAL Certificate awarded on successful completion of ALL units and is recognised by JIB/ECS and the preferred qualification provider of the NICEIC and ELECSA.
We provide all the required test equipment for training and examination. However, delegates may use their own test equipment (providing currently calibrated and meets the requirements of the current BS 7671) if they prefer.
